“Never Gonna Give You Up” is a song, performed by British singer and songwriter Richard Paul Astley, simply known as Rick Astley. The writer and producer of the song was Stock Aitken Waterman. The song was recorded by Rick Astley on October 1986 at PWL Studios in South London. The song “Never Gonna Give You Up” had been released on 27 July 1987 from Rick Astley’s debut studio album “Whenever You Need Somebody”, through RCA Records. 

The song "Never Gone Give Up" was a huge success and had become a number-one hit song worldwide. In 1987, the song reached at top position on the UK Singles Chart and stayed at the same position for 5 weeks. The song “Never Gonna Give You Up” became the best-selling song of the year 1987. The song also reached at the top position on the charts of another 25 countries. The song reached at top in the Billboard Hot 100 chart in United States. At 1988 BRIT Awards, the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” was awarded for the “Best British Single”.  

In 1987, a music video of the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” was also released, director was Simon West. On 24 October, 2009, an official music video was uploaded on YouTube, which received over 935 million views as of April 2021.
