“America The Beautiful” is a song, penned by Katharine Lee Bates and the composer was Samuel A. Ward, who was an American church organist at Grace Episcopal Church in New York. Katharine Lee Bates wrote the poem that was originally entitled “Pikes Peak” which was published 4^th July 1895 and then the poem was entitled “America”. In 1910, the poem was

First entitled “America the Beautiful” and became the most popular patriotic song in U.S. Katharine Lee Bates was a professor at Wellesley College. In 1893 she was going to City of Colorado Springs by train. Then she was 33 years old. Then several sights on her way inspired her to write the poem. The composer of the poem Samuel A. Ward was inspired to set up the tune when he was coming back from Coney Island to New York City by a ferryboat.
