“Man in the Mirror” is a song, performed by Michael Jackson. The song was written by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. The song had been recorded on May 1987 and on 6 February, it was released on 6 February, 1988. The song“Man in the Mirror” had been released from Michael Jackson’s seventh solo album “Bad”.  

In 1987, when Michael Jackson was touring Japan then a Japanese boy, named Yoshiaki Ogiwara who was only five years old, was kidnapped and murdered in September. "Man in the Mirror" contains a dedication to Yoshiaki Ogiwara and Michael Jackson dedicated concerts in Osaka and Yokohama to the boy’s memory. 

A music video of the song “Man in the Mirror” was also released which was directed by Don Wilson. Don Wilson was also produced and edited the music video. 

“Man in the Mirror” reached at the top on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed at the same position for two weeks. The song also received 3x Platinum certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). At the 31st Grammy Awards, the song “Man in the Mirror” received nomination for “Record of the Year”.  After released, the song reached the number 21 on the UK Singles Chart but it reached at the second position in 2009 after the news of Michael Jackson’s death.
