 In December 2015, the song “What a Beautiful Name” had been composed in Sydney, Australia. The song was composed for the annual church gathering, Hillsong Conference, hosted by Hillsong Church.

The music video of the song “What a Beautiful Name” had been recorded at the Hillsong Conference and on 30 September 2016, the music video was released. The music video on the YouTube received 400 million views, as of mid-April 2021.

After released, the song “What a Beautiful Name” reached at the top position on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart and stayed at that position for 37 weeks. This made the song the third longest-running No. 1 in the Hot Christian chart's 14-year history.
